Int’l Quranic Festival to Begin in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The 3rd edition of “Sa’eed bin Jubair” international Quranic festival will kick off on April 20, in Kut city of Wasit Province in Iraq.


According to sotaliraq website, Iranian representatives will take part in the program to be organized by the Astans (custodianships) of the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS).





The organizing committee of the festival announced that representatives from 10 countries, namely Iran, Kuwait, Canada, Denmark, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Nigeria, India, Pakistan and Tanzania, will participate in this edition of the program.





Wasit Province and the holy city of Karbala will host the four-day festival, he said.





Seraj Munir Bashir, internationally-known Iraqi Quran reciter and member of the committee said that the international event will include various programs such as a forum to be hosted by the Wasit University, three Quranic sessions in mosques and religious centers of the province, a specialized forum for Quranic institutes as well as Quranic sessions at the holy shrines.





A pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf has also been planned for the participants at the festival.





Sa’eed bin Jubair bin Hashem Al-Asadi, a devoted Shia and companion of Imam Sajjad (AS), memorizer, reciter and interpreter of Quran, was martyred in the year 95 A.H.





He was born in the year 45 A.H. at the time of Imam Ali’s (AS) government in the city of Kufa.
