According to Aljazeera website, the radio program is aired every Friday at 9:45 a.m. for five minutes.
Seven experts in Islamic studies from different German universities, including six Muslims and one non-Muslim orientalist, present thematic interpretation of the verses in the program.
An official with the radio station said that the decision to broadcast the Quranaic program was made after the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris and the resulting rise of Islamophobia in Germany and Europe.
The main objective of the program is to better introduce Islam, which has the most number of followers in Germany after Christianity, and correct the misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.
Germany has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe after France. Approximately 3.0 to 3.5 million Muslims live in Germany.
