Quran Memorization Competition Held for Tanzanian Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Quranic school students in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, participated in a Quran memorization competition hosted by the city’s Al-huda Mosque.

 According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the competition was held by the Iranian Cultural Center in Tanzania in cooperation with Al-Istiqamah Quranic School.

 

Elementary school girls and boys from Al-Manahil, Al-Istiqamah and Al-Rizwan Quranic schools competed on memorization of the entire Quran.


The Quranic competition was held with more than 100 participants under the supervision of Quran experts of the schools.


Winners of the competition were awarded by the Iranian Cultural Center in a ceremony.


Addressing the ceremony, Ali Baqeri, Iranian cultural attaché in Tanzania highlighted the importance of reading and memorizing the Holy Quran and noted that the Divine Book is an axis of unity in the Muslim world.


He also made references to some of Iranians’ achievements in various Quranic fields and elaborated on the methods of selecting Tanzanian Quran reciter and memorizer to represent their country in the international Quran competition in Iran.


The Iranian official said that the center will organize regional Quran competitions in Tanzania during the holy month of Ramadan and winners will be dispatched to Iran.
