Winners of Group Quran Competition Honored in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) - Top participants of the first edition of a group Quran competition in Iraq were announced and honored in the holy city of Karbala.


According to Al-Kafeel website, the competition started with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and concluded on the 15th of Ramadan at the courtyard of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine.



 



Group “A” from Dhi Qar Province was announced as the first-rank group and awarded golden trophies as well as Umrah pilgrimage.



 



Marid Hashim, Faisal Matar and Rahim Mohsin were members of the group who respectively competed in categories of memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Quran.



 



Ali Qasim, Ishaq Kazim and Ali Rahim, who represented group “B” respectively in the categories of memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Quran, came second.



 



The third-rank group of the competition was from Al-Diwaniyya Province of Iraq represented by Mahmoud Hashim Dakhil, Abbas Hussein Atiyya and Hamid Ubayd Jabbar.



 



A large number of religious and social figures and Quran activists were present at the closing ceremony of the competition.



 



The members of the Quran experts committee of the competition, including Salim Al-Jari, Ala’ Al-din Hamoud Mahdi, Mahdi Al-Wardi and Ali Al-Bayati, were also honored at the ceremony.



 



24 groups from different provinces of Iraq participated in the first edition of the competition.



 



The Quranic event, which was held at 10 p.m. every night, was aired on Al-Furat satellite TV channel.



 



During Ramadan, when Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset, various Quranic programs are held all over the Islamic world.
