ISIL militants gathered people to read out the execution verdict and then decapitated the imam of al-Saliheen Mosque, al-Sumaria news reported.
The terrorist group had accused Sheikh Mushir al-Naghshbandi of spreading teachings that run counter to what ISIL believes in.
Earlier on July 20, ISIL executed the prayers leader of the city’s al-Hamid Mosque
The militants shot Sheikh Najmedin Kana’an al-Juburi in the head for “rebellion”.
The ISIL terrorists currently control parts of Syria, Iraq, and Libya. They have carried out heinous crimes in the countries, including mass executions and the beheading of people.
Mosul has been in the hands of ISIL terrorists since June 2014.
The group has so far executed hundreds of the citizens on various pretexts including collaboration with government forces and failing to comply with ISIL interpretation of Islam.
