On Sunday offensive cartoons depicting the Holy Prophet (PBUH) were put on show in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
The exhibition was organized by the anti-Islamic group “Stop Islamization of Denmark” in a major square in the capital.
Al-Azhar said such moves run counter to internationally-recognized values such as mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
It called on the international community to condemn such provocative acts, which can lead to the spread of Islamophobia in different parts of the world.
The exhibition came on the eve of the anniversary of the publication of insulting cartoons in Denmark ten years ago.
On September 30, 2005, Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), a move that sparked anger and deadly protests in the Muslim world.
