At least 107 people, including 5 Iranian citizens, were killed as a crane fell on Hajj pilgrims in the Grand Mosque on September 11.
A special committee has been set up to investigate the causes of the crash.
According to Sabaq daily, the committee on Thursday started questioning officials of the Binladin Group, the construction firm that had been involved in the projects for expansion of the Grand Mosque.
Saudi officials had earlier said that the firm “was in part responsible” for the tragedy, which occurred during a severe thunderstorm accompanied by violent winds.
The company is run by the Bin Laden family, which has close ties with Saudi Arabia’s ruling family.
Known as the second largest construction company in the world after French firm Vinci Construction, the Jeddah-based conglomerate was founded in 1931 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Laden, the father of al-Qaeda’s slain leader Osama bin Laden.
