Fighting Global Arrogance Based on Reason
Addressing thousands of university and school students on the eve of the 13th of Aban, the anniversary of the US Embassy takeover in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the US enmity against the Islamic Republic since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said the embassy takeover was a reaction to Washington’s plots against the Iranian nation that did not stop for even one day.
His Eminence noted that the documents found in the embassy showed that the embassy was really a “Den of Espionage” and a center for hatching plots against the Iranian nation and the Islamic Revolution.
The Supreme Leader stressed that the Americans have failed to understand and correctly analyze the developments in Iran and have failed in all of their attempts to overthrow the Islamic system in the past 37 years.
The Leader said the US has in recent years been involved in having certain individuals conceal its hostile intentions against Iran, adding that the objective is to hide the real intention of the enemy from Iran so foes can harm the country.
“The truth is that US’s objectives regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran have not changed at all; and they (the Americans) would not spare a moment if they could destroy the Islamic Republic; but they can’t,” Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.
On the 13th of Aban (November 4, 1979) and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students that called themselves "students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)" seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.
The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic republic.
Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 4), the Iranian nation, particularly university and school students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
In the capital city of Tehran, the rallies to mark the anniversary of the landmark move are held at the venue of the former US embassy, which is known by Iranians as the “Den of Espionage”.
