Interfaith Dialogue Not Aimed at Proving Superiority

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that by holding interfaith dialogue meetings, Iran does not seek to prove its religious superiority to others.

Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri made the remark Sunday in a ceremony held in Tehran to unveil a book titled "Iran, Cradle of Peaceful Coexistence”.

He added that religious dialogue is focused on finding commonalities and promoting cooperation among different faiths,

Ayatollah Taskhiri also highlighted the status of monotheistic faiths in the country’s Constitution and said that followers of different religions live peacefully in Iran.

He further noted that several verses of the Holy Quran form the basis for interaction between the Islamic Ummah and followers of other faiths.

Representatives of several faiths also addressed the ceremony.

Ardeshir Khorshidian, head of the Zoroastrians Society of Tehran, noted that all prophets have been sent by God to spread unity.

He also thanked the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization for publishing the book.

Leader of Iranian Jews, Rabbi Mashallah Golestani Nejad, in his speech praised the book as a genuine and illuminating.

"Iran, Cradle of Peaceful Coexistence” is a valuable cultural work published in 280 pages.

It introduces the Iranian religious minorities’ history, rituals and activities as well as social and cultural aspects of their life.
