65-Year-Old Man, Oldest Quran Memorizer in Jeddah
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sheikh Tahir Hussein Adam, 65, has become the oldest person in the Saudi port city of Jeddah to have learned the entire Quran by heart.
Adam managed to memorize all the verses of the Holy Book in just two and a half years, according to al-jazeeraonline website.
He memorized the Quran attending classes held at al-Taqwa Quranic Center in Jeddah.
He was among 1000 Quran memorizers recently honored in a ceremony organized by the Khayrukum Quran Memorization Society.
"I read two pages of the Quran 30 times every day until I learned the entire Holy Book by heart,” he says.
"I am now studying and memorizing interpretations of the Quran and plan to teach Quran memorization to be among those about whom the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others’”.
