Iran-Slovenia Religious Dialogue Held in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The second round of religious dialogue between Iran’s Cultural Relations Organization’s Center of Dialogue among Religions and Civilizations and Slovenian scholars themed “Discourse of a World without Violence and Extremism” started on December 14 in Tehran.

Abuzar Ebrahimi-Torkaman, the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Ali Mohammad Helmi, the head of the Center of Dialogue among Religions and Civilizations, Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Mohaqqeq-Damad, the president of Islam Department of Academy of Sciences, and Abdolhossein Khosrow-Panah, the head of Research Institute of Theosophy and Philosophy were among the speakers at the three-day event, which will continue in the holy city of Qom on Wednesday.


Christian scholars from Slovenia, including Tadi Esterjuts, the secretary general of Swiss Archbishops Conference, and Lenart Eshkov, a professor of Philosophical Studies Institute of University of Primorska have attended the event.


"The role of religious rationality in preventing violence and extremism”, "world without violence and extremism”, "obstacles in the way of dialogue and peaceful co-existence”, "Islamism and Islamophobia”, "world justice, religions and hospitability”, "faithfulness and humbleness” and "family and religion” are some of the themes of the lectures.


The second round of Iran-Slovenia religious dialogue will conclude on December 16 at the University of Religions in the holy city of Qom.


Tehran hosted the first round of the dialogue in 2008.
