2600 Qaris, Memorizers to Attend Quran Competition in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 2600 Quran reciters and memorizers from different parts of Iran are expected to take part in a Quran competition slated to be held in Tehran later this month.

The 9th Quran competition of the Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center will be held for men on January 25-29.

310 of the participants will compete in the category of memorization of the entire Quran, Morteza Najafi Qodsi, the director of the center said.

The number of contenders in the other categories is as follows: 256 in memorization of 20 Juzes (parts) of the Quran, 450 in memorization of ten Juzes, 440 in memorization of 5 Juzes, 250 in memorization of two Juzes, 260 in Tarteel recitation, and 525 in Tahqiq recitation.

Najafi Qodsi added that the contest will be held for two age groups of under 16 and adults.

Most of those signing up for the competition (around 1000) are from the provinces of Tehran and Alborz, he went on to say.
