New Accommodation Center to Host Karbala Pilgrims

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new accommodation center for pilgrims called “Sayyed Al-Awsiya” has been established on the way of Baghdad to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq to host the pilgrims of the holy shrines in the city.

The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine announced that it has been constructed on a 70000-square meter site and that it includes apartment buildings and a two-floor mosque which will host 1000 male and female worshipers.

Jasim Muhammad Jasim, director of the center’s construction project, said that it also has 11 halls, a health center, a 1500-square meter restaurant.

He added that the Astan has stressed the application of modern technologies in the project.

Karbala, a city in southern Iraq where the martyrs of the Battle of Karbala (680 AD) are buried hosts millions of pilgrims from around the world every year.
