Students Quran Competition Concludes in Iraq
According to Mujiz Al-Iraq, the competition was organized by the custodianship of the mosque and the affiliated holy sites in cooperation with the Education Section of Kufa University.
A number of eminent religious figures, scholars and intellectuals, officials of the holy city of Najaf, the students of different universities of the country, cultural figures and journalists attended the ceremony.
Seyyed Adil Al-Yasiri, member of the judging committee of the competition, said that representatives of 28 universities of the country participated in this edition of the Quranic event.
He added that more than 50 male Quran activists competed in the two-day national competition.
Muhammad Zalif from Al-Muthanna University, Ahmad Sa’d from Al-Rafidain University and Mustafa Abd-Al-Sadah from the University of Basrah respectively won the first to the third ranks.
The various categories of the competition were supervised by Adil Al-Yasiri, Osama Al-Karbalayi, Faras Al-Tayi and Natiq Al-Zarkani.
Addressing the ceremony, Mustafa Shubbar, custodian of the Kufa Mosque, said that the competition was organized on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Zeynab (SA), the naming of the year as "The Year of Imam Ali (AS)” and concurrent with the anniversary of Imam Ali’s (AS) arrival in Kufa and the 1400 Years after the Selection of Kufa as the Capital of Islamic Government by the Imam (AS).
Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, deputy of the Awqaf Office of Iraqi Shias, also presented a speech in the program and appreciated the efforts of the mosque’s custodianship in holding the competition.
He stressed that the mosques of the country should be the centers to promote the youth’s awareness based on Quranic teachings.
He also noted that the true Islamic thought should be disseminated in the Islamic society to stop the spread of Takfiri thoughts.
