TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian cultural attaché in Malaysia described the recitation of Iran’s representative Seyed Mostafa Hosseini at the Southeast Asian country’s international Quran competition as outstanding.
We listened to the recitation of other Qaris, like the representative of the Philippines, but theirs were not as good as Hosseini’s, he added.
"We are now waiting for the result of the judgement and hope that Hosseini will win the first rank when the results are announced on Saturday,” Ziyaei went on to say.
He also said there are good Quran experts in the competition’s panel of judges but said presence of Iranian Quranic figures in the panel could enrich the contest.
Ziyaei further expressed hope that from next year on, Iranian Quran memorizers will also take part in the international Quranic event.
Iranian representative’s turn to recite the Quran at the 58th international Quran competition in Malaysia was on Wednesday night and he had a beautiful recitation.
The contest, officially named "International Al Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly”, kicked off in Kuala Lumpur on Monday night.
Some 120 Quran reciters and memorizers from 69 countries are attending the competition.
A 16-strong panel of judges comprising Quran experts from Lebanon, Qatar, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand and Malaysia evaluate the performance of the contenders to select the top ones.
