TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egyptian Quran reciter Sheikh Ahmed Noaina is among the most renowned Qaris in Egypt and around the Muslim world.

Sheikh Ahmed Noaina, A Qari Whose Recitation Has Captivated Heads of State

There are few people interested in listening to Quran recitation who have not heard of him.

In addition to being a Qari, he is a memorizer of the entire Quran and a physician by profession.

Sheikh Noaina has mastery over the ten styles of Quran recitation and has recited the Holy Book in international events in Egypt for 37 years.

He has recited the Quran before many heads of Muslims states, including kings, presidents and prime ministers.

That is why he is known as Qari al-Muluk (Qari of kings), though he does not like the title very much.

In a recent interview with al-Fajr website, he said, "I have recited the Quran before most of Muslim and Arab countries’ presidents and kings but I do not belong to regimes and governments.

"They include the former king of Jordan, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Moroccan King Mohammed VI and former and current Egyptian presidents.

"I consider myself to belong to the Book of God. Because rulers are not perpetual but the Quran will remain until the Day of Judgment and everyone’s return to God.”

Asked about how he learned the Quran, Noaina said he went to Umm Saad traditional Quran school and learned with Umm Saad, a visually-impaired woman who was a renowned master of the ten styles of Quran recitation.

That was when he also studied medicine at university.

Noaina said he reads five Juzes (parts) of the Quran every day throughout the year and more Juzes in the holy month of Ramadan.

"In Ramadan, I also travel to different countries to take part in Quran recitation sessions and this year, I am heading to Algeria and Morocco.”
