Quran Competition Planned for GECF Member States

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Head of the Dar-ol-Quran Center of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said an international Quran competition for member states of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is planned to be held in the near future.

Hossein Rabeiyan made the remarks at the closing ceremony of a Quran and Nahj-ul-Balaqa contest for families of the NIGC personnel.

He said Quran activists from the member states of the GECF will take part in the international Quranic event.

He did not say when the exact date of the international competition will be or which Iranian city will host it.

The GECF, also known as Gas OPEC, is an intergovernmental organization of 11 of the world’s leading natural gas producers.

Its members are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

GECF members together control over 70 percent of the world’s natural gas reserves, 38 percent of the pipeline trade and 85 percent of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.
