According to KUNA news agency, Kuwait’s Grand Prize Competition is the title of the Quranic event, which began on September 21.
According to Muhammad Al-Jalahima, secretary general of Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the contest is sponsored by the ministry's Quran and Quranic sciences fund.
He said that the Kuwaitis residing abroad are cooperating with the judging board of this edition of the competition.
Abdul Rahman Al-Hashash, the vice president of the organizing committee of the competition said that top participants will be awarded 150000 Kuwaiti Dinars.
Every year 2000 participants in male and female groups compete in the final stage of the national Quran competition, he added.
6000 Quran activists have been selected as the winners of the competition since 1996.
