TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 9th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council began in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday.
50 Sunni and Shia clerics, scholars and intellectuals from 22 Muslim nations are attending the conference, which will conclude this afternoon.
It is being hosted by the office of Ammar al-Hakim, the head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) who has recently been elected as the leader of Iraq’s National Alliance.
Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati is also present at the international event.
