TEHRAN (IQNA) – A national Quran Reading Competition for adults has been underway in Brunei since Tuesday.

Hosted by Plenary Hall at International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas, it continues for three consecutive nights.
This year 12 participants – five Qaris (male reciters) and five Qariahs (female reciters) who advanced from the semi-final and the 1437H/2016 Qari and Qariah champion – are competing, said a press release by the Southeast Asian country’s Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The first night of the event saw four participants competing, followed by a recitation of the Quran by the invited Qari from the Republic of Indonesia, Ustaz Mohammed Miftah Farid. On the second night, eight participants competed, followed by another Al-Quran recitation by the Ustaz.
The competition which carried the theme ‘The Quran is My Companion that Enriches My Life’ will wrap up on Thursday.
