Firuz Suntur, who lives in the city of Van in eastern Turkey, started taking Quran lessons a while ago and managed not only to learn reading the verses but also memorize 15 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.
According to Anadolu Agency, it had been her wish to memorize the Quran since long but had failed to do it due to certain problems and lack of time.
After all of her children got married, she finally had the time to make efforts to see her wish come true.
Firuz says some of her relatives believed she was too old to learn the Quran but she paid no attention to what they said and went on with her plan to memorize the Quran.
"I hope I will be able to become a memorizer of the entire Quran one day,” she says.
The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.
Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.
The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
