TEHRAN (IQNA) – A group of Iranian Quran reciters has been dispatched to India to participate in Quranic sessions held in the South Asian country on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Bangalore and New Delhi, the capital city, are among different parts of the sub-continent which host the Quranic programs.

Besides Quran recitation in the programs, the Iranian Qaris have supervised a number of Quran competitions held in India from the beginning of the month.

Islam is the second-largest religion in India, with 14.2% of the country's population or approx. 200 million people identifying as adherents of Islam (2018 estimate). It makes India the country with the largest Muslim population outside Muslim-majority countries.
