The mosque was supposed to be inaugurated in October 2019 in presence of the Emir of Qatar, but his visit to Tajikistan was delayed until March 2020, the Architecture and Construction Department of Tajikistan said.
The mosque can accommodate around 120,000 people.
The cornerstone laying ceremony was held in October 2009.
The mosque was designed by specialists of Tajikistan and Qatar. It consists of 4 prayer towers each 75 meters tall and a 47-meter tall main dome and 20 small domes.
The central mosque lies on the northern suburbs of Dushanbe on 12 hectares and also has a library, museum, assembly hall and a reception room.
The project is valued at almost $100 million.
It was reported earlier the project was financed by the Government of Qatar.
