Friday Prayers in UAE Should Not Exceed 10 Minutes: Awqaf Authority

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (Endowments) in the United Arab Emirates called on all Imams of mosques in the country to follow necessary precautions during the Friday prayers in light of the novel coronavirus, known as Covid-19.

 

The authority has said that Imams should read only two verses of the Holy Quran, reading the exact speech and dua mentioned in the speech letter the receive, stressing that the prayers should not exceed 10 minutes, Khaleejtimes reported.

The circular explained that such steps will help in reducing the possibility of spreading the virus, stressing that prevention is better than cure.

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 80,000 people around the world, including over 77,000 in China. More than 3,500 people have died worldwide.

The outbreak has had a major impact on global sporting, cultural, religious and political events, with a host of events canceled or postponed.
