TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition is planned to be held in Iran to commemorate late Iranian Quran master Ali Arbabi.

The 14th edition of the contest, titled Safir Mehrbani (ambassador of kindness) will be held online due to the coronavirus restrictions.

It will have different categories, including Tahqiq and Tarteel recitation for men and Quranic concepts for women.

Winners will be announced and awarded on the night of Eid al-Fitr.

Ali Arbabi was born in Tehran in 1939. He attended Master Khalil Rahman’s courses on Quran recitation in 1968 and continued his recitation practices more professionally by participating in Master Mowlaee’s classes.

Through his sincere love and devotion to the Holy Quran as well as his perseverance in learning the Holy Book and recording the recitations of prominent reciters of his time, Master Arbabi succeeded in training a large number of Quran reciters and teachers over 37 years of nonstop endeavors.

He also used to be an international referee in Quran recitation competitions.

Master Arbabi died in Tehran in 2007.
