Daesh Drone Downed in Iraq’s Khanaqin

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of Daesh east of the country.

 

The PMU, also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, in a statement said that the forces of the PMU’s 23rd Unit repelled an infiltration attempt by Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists on Sunday.

The terrorist elements tried to enter Ali al-Saadun Village in Khanaqin region, Diyala province, but were defeated, it added, al-Maalomah news website reported.

The statement also said that a dorne belonging to the terror group was shot down in the region.

Meanwhile, Iraq’s security forces started an operation in the provinces of al-Anbar, Salahuddin, and Nineveh to cleanse the areas of terrorists.

The operation is being carried out with aerial support from the Iraqi Air Force.
