TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar-ol-Quran of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, held an online summer Quranic course.

According to the Dar-ol-Quran’s website, the educational program, which was held online due to the coronavirus restrictions, was attended by teenagers aged 9 to 15.

Quran memorization, recitation principles and Quranic concepts were the themes of the course, which also included weekly Quran competitions.

Montadhar Al-Mansouri, an official with the Astan, said that despite the changes made in teaching methods this year, the course was successfully held for one month.

He added that 1560 girls and boys from 16 countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Oman, the UAE, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Australia, the US, and Nigeria, took the course.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
