Quranic Treasury of Hazrat Abbas (AS) Holy Shrine’s Museum

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The manuscripts museum of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq, is a treasury of precious works, including rare Quran copies.

 

According to Al-Kafeel website, it is the first museum of unique manuscripts opened by the Astan in the holy city.

It was launched in 2009 on the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Zeynab (SA).

Some of the precious copies of the Holy Quran at the museum include:

1. A Mushaf attributed to Imam Sajjad (AS), dating back to the first century A.H.

The verses in this copy of Quran have been written on animal skin in Kufic script. Each page is 37 by 26.5 cm.

2. A Mushaf attributed to Ibn Al-Bawab, datingd back to the fifth century A.H.

The verses are in Thuth script in gold and the margins are in Kufic. Each page is 16.5 by 21.75 cm.

3. A one-volume Mushaf which covers 30 pages, with a complete Juz (part) of the Holy Quran written on each page in Naskh script. Each line begins with Alif (letter A) and the pages are 32 by 21.5 cm.
