TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council called for measures against the Israeli regime’s excavations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Mohammad Ali al-Houthi slammed the Zionist regime’s diggings under the Al-Aqsa Mosque, al-Masirah reported.

Calling it an intentional destruction targeting the Islamic holy sites in the holy city, he said, “The usurping entity's continued digging under the Noble Aqsa is a deliberate destruction of the Islamic holy sites in Palestine, and Muslims are responsible for taking action to reject that by all means.”

Israeli authorities frequently issue permits for excavations and archaeological digs in close vicinity of the al-Aqsa compound.

Such actions have resulted in the collapse of several Palestinian homes and damage to the mosque and its surrounding buildings.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site for Muslims after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
