TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman called for cooperation among Muslim countries to cooperate on fighting Takfiri terrorism and extremism.

Strongly condemning a recent attack by the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in Pakistan that killed eleven Shia coal miners, Saeed Khatibzadeh said the criminal act once again demonstrated the need for all regional countries to do their utmost in cooperation with one another to eliminate the ideological grounds and financial sources funding Takfiri and extremist groups.

He also slammed certain countries for continuing to support such groups that use violence against innocent people from various faiths and denominations.

Hundreds of Shia Pakistanis gathered on Saturday to bury 11 coal miners from the Hazara community killed by the terrorist group Daesh ending a week of protests that sought to highlight the minority’s plight.

Daesh abducted and then shot and killed the miners on Sunday in Balochistan.

Police video of their bodies revealed the miners had been blindfolded and their hands tied behind their backs before being shot.

Daesh promptly claimed responsibility and since then authorities have raided hideouts to arrest those who orchestrated the killings, though Khan insisted Pakistan’s neighbor India was behind the violence in Balochistan.
