TEHRAN (IQNA) – Officials from two major mosques in Iran and India held talks in Qom, highlighting the need to cement bilateral relations.

Custodian of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) Mausoleum in Qom Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Saeidi met and held talks on Thursday with a delegation of Muslim scholars from India and Bangladesh led by Shahi Imam of the Jamia Masjid in Delhi Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Ayatollah Saeidi said that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has a special view of India which led to his writing a book about the Indian people’s movement.

Relations between Iran and India are deeply rooted in history, he said, adding that animosity of enemies against Iran and Muslims proves our right stance.

The holy Quran advises the believers to serve God Almighty and avoid enemies, he said. “It is the duty of both of us to put efforts in expanding and cementing relations and in maintaining the interests of both countries according to Islam.”

He also pointed to the need to implement practical actions in this regard.
