TEHRAN (IQNA) – International Quran News Agency staged a two-day journalism workshop for international students of Al-Mustafa University.

Held in Qom on June 23 and 24, the workshop was attended by students from 35 countries. The attendees were presented with lessons on the principles of journalism and news writing.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the workshop, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hossein Rafiei, the director of Quran and Hadith Department of Al-Mustafa International University pointed to the need to confront doubts that are raised by enemies against Islam.

“Today, enemies are promoting doubts about Islam in all Islamic countries, seeking to change the beliefs and culture of Muslims,” he said.

“Therefore, it is our duty to explain the realities of religion and the true face of Islam to all people and to fend off what is not true.

“Attending the journalism workshop boosts your power and awareness regarding issues, making you able to offer your knowledge to the society in the best manner possible and be more influential,” added the official.

Describing journalism as a manifestation of “explanatory jihad”, he said that such acts will foil enemies’ plots.

Defending the truth, protecting people’s beliefs, and speaking the truths are among the biggest acts of worship for reporters and media outlets, especially those that are promoting religion, added the scholar.
