Kids Honored in Egypt for Memorizing Quran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in Egypt’s Northern Sinai governorate to admire children and teenagers who have managed to learn the Holy Quran by heart.

A total of 30 children and teenagers, including one as young as 5 years old, were honored for their achievement, Mohamed Mahmoud Jabr, a coordinator of the event said.

This ceremony was held by the people of the governorate and the memorizers are also going to be honored in a similar ceremony planned by the Northern Sinai’s Awqaf Department and Governor’s Office.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of total population and Quranic activities are very common in the Arab country.

The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.

Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.

The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
