Hundreds of Palestinians in occupied city of al-Quds are at risk of forced eviction, warned the European Union Delegation to the Palestinians.

In a tweet, the body wrote: “EUREP, together with other diplomatic missions, visited the Ghaith-Sub Laban family, ordered to leave their home in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem where they have lived for decades by 11 June.”

She added: “This takes place in a context, where an estimated 150 Palestinian families in East Jerusalem are at risk of forced eviction and displacement by Israeli authorities.”

The EU official recalled, in her tweet, “the EU's opposition to Israel's settlement policy and actions taken in this context, including evictions.”

Israel's plan to evict Palestinians from Jerusalem is a controversial and illegal move that has sparked protests and violence in the region. The plan involves forcing out Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East al-Quds, which the regime captured and annexed in 1967

The Israeli regime claims that the land belongs to Jewish settlers who have historical and legal rights to it, while Palestinians say they have lived there for generations and have documents to prove their ownership.

The evictions have been ordered by Israeli courts, which have ruled in favor of the settlers, and are backed by the Israeli government and police. The evictions are seen by Palestinians and human rights groups as part of a wider policy of ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism that aims to erase the Palestinian presence and identity in Jerusalem.

The United Nations and the international community have condemned the evictions as a violation of international law and human rights. The UN Security Council has repeatedly affirmed that the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and have no legal validity. The evictions also undermine the prospects of a two-state solution and a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

The evictions are not a new phenomenon, but a continuation of a long history of dispossession and displacement of Palestinians by Israel. They are also a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and dignity by Palestinians, who refuse to give up their rights and their homeland.
