Each of these words highlight part of the ominous consequences of sins.

The words used in the Quran to refer to sin are these: 1- Dhanb, 2- Ma’siyah, 3- Ithm, 4- Sayyi’ah, 5, Jurm, 6-Haram, 7- Khati’ah, 8- Fisq, 9-Fisad, 10-Fujur, 11-Munkar, 12- Fahisha, 13- Khibth, 14-Shar, 15-Lamam, 16- Wizr and Thiql, 17-Hinth

Explanations were offered about ten of these words earlier. Here are explanations about the remaining seven:

11-Munkar: This word comes from the root word Inkar that means unknown and unfamiliar. Sin is not compatible with Fitrat (nature) and intellect and they consider it unfamiliar and ugly. The word Munkar is used 16 times in the Quran, mostly in the phrase Nahy anil Munkar (prevention of vice).

12- Fahisha: It means a word or an action about whose ugliness there is no doubt. The word is used to refer to very ugly and disgraceful acts. It is used 24 times in the Quran.
