TEHRAN (IQNA) – A look at the verses of the Holy Quran shows that Satan has many way to infiltrate people’s hearts and that without strong belief in God, one cannot resist Satan’s temptations.

Holy Quran

After Satan disobeyed God and refused to prostrate before Adam (AS), he was banished from paradise. He then pledged to try to lead all humans astray. This has been described in Verse 50 of Surah Al-Kahf:

“When We said to the angels: ‘Prostrate yourselves before Adam,’ all prostrated themselves except iblis (Satan), who was one of the jinn, disobedient to the command of his Lord. Would you then take him and his descendants to be your guardians, other than Me, when they are your clear enemy? How evil is the exchange for the harmdoers!”

This event is mentioned in several other verses of the Quran in order to lay emphasis on the fact that Satan is humans’ enemy without a doubt and his aim is to lead them astray. According to Verses 16-18 of Surah Al-A’araf:

“The Lord told him, ‘We will grant you this respite.’ Then Satan said, ‘Because you have made me go astray, I shall certainly try to seduce people into straying from the right path. I shall attack them from all directions and You will not find many of them giving You thanks.’”

From the very beginning, Satan began his intense enmity against mankind with all his power and whatever at his disposal. The first victims were Adam (AS) and Eve:

“But Satan whispered to them, so that he might reveal to them their shameful parts which had been hidden from them, he said: ‘Your Lord has prohibited you from this tree lest you both become angels or become among the immortal.’” (Verse 20 of Surah Al-A’raf)

This was the first challenge in man’s confrontation with Satan and from then on, he faced various forms of Satan’s temptations so he will be tested in divine trials in different ways.
