CAIRO (IQNA) – Egypt’s Al-Azhar strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s brutal attack on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip that has killed and injured hundreds of innocent Palestinians.

Destruction resulting from Israeli attacks on Gaza

In a statement on Wednesday, Al-Azhar described the Zionist regime as a “rabid wolf” that is after killing women and children in Gaza.

What encourages the Zionists to continue the war crimes against Palestinian is the silence of the international community that becomes like the “silence of the dead in their grave”, the statement said.

The world community has lost its ability and resolve to stop this killing machine, Al-Azhar deplored.

It called on Muslims worldwide to pray for the oppressed people of Gaza and defeat of the enemies of Palestine.

At least 400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were either killed or injured after Israeli airstrikes hit the camp amid the regime’s ongoing war against the besieged territory.

Iyad al-Bazum, spokesman for Gaza's interior ministry, said American-made bombs had targeted residential homes during the blitz, adding that an entire residential complex had been destroyed in the attack.

“These buildings house hundreds of citizens. The occupation’s air force destroyed this district with six US-made bombs. It is the latest massacre caused by Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip,” he said, calling on the international community “to act immediately to stop Israel before it is too late.”

The Israeli attacks on Gaza have so far killed more than 8,600 Palestinians and left over 23,000 others wounded, according to the Palestinian ministry. The figure excludes the casualties caused by the Israeli attack on Jabaliya.
