Visitors Welcome Quranic Botanical Garden at Expo 2023 Doha

DOHA (IQNA) – Visitors have embraced the Quranic Botanical Garden that is underway in an international exhibition in Qatar.

Many visitors flocked to the pavilion of the Quranic Botanical Garden at the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition, where they enjoyed educational workshops on easy vegetable growing and plants mentioned in the Quran and the Hadiths, Qatar’s Al-Raya Daily reported on Sunday.

The Quranic Botanical Garden showcases efforts in conserving plants and educates the public about various plant species that are cited in the Quran and Hadith.

The garden’s experts also offer specialized agricultural workshops and fun educational programs for children to enhance their environmental awareness.

Muhammad Hassouna, a horticulture engineer at the Quanic Botanical Garden, said: “The workshops provide practical tips on how to grow vegetables in Qatar, the types that are suitable for the climate, and how to prepare and select soil mixtures. The participants also learn about the main crops that can be planted in Qatari soil and their seasons.”

He added that the Quranic Botanical Garden has a large educational program and will organize many workshops for the visitors at Expo Doha to teach them about environmental and plant preservation.

He said that the garden’s participation in this international event aims to foster intercultural dialogue, environmental responsibility, and integration between plant conservation and modern scientific achievements.

Hassouna said: “Our participation in the Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition is a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of plant conservation, as well as to highlight our rich religious heritage that emphasizes this issue, and to demonstrate the role of the environment in our daily lives. The Quranic Botanical Garden displays indoor and outdoor plants that are mentioned in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet.”

The International Horticultural Expo 2023 in Doha, Qatar is a global event that showcases plants and gardens from around the world, while promoting environmental sustainability and green innovation.

The expo opened on October 2, 2023, and will continue till March 28, 2024, in Al Bidda Park, covering an area of 1.7 million square meters.

It features four sub-themes and is expected to attract millions of visitors, who can explore gardens, participate in workshops, and experience different cultures. The expo will also host pavilions from 80 countries and international organizations, showcasing achievements in horticulture and environmental protection.
