IQNA – The ambassador of South Africa to Iran said the days of Israel committing genocide against Palestinians with impunity are ending.

South Africa’s Ambassador to Iran Francis Molloy attends a specialized session held in Tehran under the title of “South Africa and Resistance Discourse”

Francis Molloy made the remark in a specialized session held in Tehran under the title of “South Africa and Resistance Discourse”, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization reported.

He referred to South Africa’s move to file a complaint against the Zionist regime in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and said it was due to Israel’s violation of international commitments and based on the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

He noted complaints from other countries like Bolivia, Bangladesh, the Comoros Islands and Djibouti were also submitted to the ICJ so that investigations would begin into the Israeli acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Molloy predicted that in the near future, verdicts are going to be issued against Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli regime’s prime minister.

The South African envoy also said that people’s opinion about governments’ approaches to the issue of Palestine is changing and they are putting pressure on governments to support the rights of Palestinians.

He went on to say that at a time when Israel is receiving all-out military support from Western powers, “We are relying on the civilian and popular power and feel powerful (in supporting Palestine).”

Israel has waged a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

More than 34,800 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, the vast majority of whom have been women and children, and 78,400 others injured, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Over seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins, pushing 85% of the enclave’s population into internal displacement amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine, according to the UN.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the ICJ. An interim ruling in January said it is “plausible” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and ordered Tel Aviv to stop such acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
