IQNA – A Zionist is a Jew who fanatically believes in the superiority of the Jewish people and the return to the “promised land”.

Anti-Zionist Jews voice support for Palestine

The main concern of a true Jewish person, however, is true interpretation of the Torah and acting upon the Sharia of Moses (AS).

Judaism is a divine religion whose followers believe in the prophethood of Moses and consider Torah to be their divine book.

Those believing in Judaism knew that the religion is the official divine faith until God sends His next messenger. The followers of Judaism were committed to principles and rules mentioned in the Torah. However, in the course of history, some opportunists distorted it for their own personal and worldly gain.

Zion is the name of mountain near Jerusalem al-Quds that was a place for worship among pious Jews for centuries. Those people were called Zionists. However, the meaning of the word totally changed in the 19th century and Jewish elites considered it to be a political-ideological current for the return to the promised land.

Since then, those who, based on myths and their own religious identity, believe in the return of the Jewish people to Palestine and establishment of a Jewish state have been called Zionists. At the beginning, some of the Zionist leaders had no belief in God and their move was a non-religious one, with some of their followers believing that the banishment of the Jewish people was not the result of their sins but due to their few number.

However, they maintained later that the Jewish nation should be brought together in a certain place with the use of religious teachings and political methods. So from one perspective, Zionism can be regarded as the political interpretation of the Torah.

Overall, a Zionist can be defined as a Jewish person who fanatically believes in the superiority of the Jewish people and considers the return to the “promised land” of Jerusalem as his right and obligation and does everything on this path. And what he seeks to achieve by returning to this land is to rule the world and subjugate all other peoples and nations. And this is what the Quran refers to. Whether such racist Jews live in the past centuries or present time, they act upon the distorted Torah whereas the main concern of true Jews is correct interpretation of the Torah and implementing the teachings of Moses (AS).

While the contemporary Zionism has its origins in the nationalism and colonialism of 19th century Europe, those Jews who seek the truth based on the Torah are against today’s Zionism.

In order to know Zionists, one should pay attention not to their religion or race but to their behavioral characteristics, identity foundations and conduct.

That is why we are witnessing the emergence of Christian Zionists in the US (during the presidency of George W. Bush) and formation of a kind of Arab Zionism in recent years. However, newly-emerged Zionists do not have Torah-based aspirations and do not consider Jews to be the superior race but they can be called Zionists only because of their support for the rule of Zionists and displacement of Palestinians.
