Islamic Teachings Section of Iran’s Nat’l Quran Contest to Go International

IQNA – The Islamic teachings section of the Iranian National Quran Competition is planned to be held at the international level, an official said.

Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center Hamid Majidimehr made the remark at a meeting at the organization on Tuesday, noting that contenders in this section will compete in the categories of Tafseer (Quran interpretation), Nahj al-Balagha and Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh. 

He said this section aims to elevate the level of people’s spiritual information and knowledge.

“With the use of new methods that attract the (people), we can certainly take effective steps in promoting the teachings of the Quran, Nahj al-Balagha and Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh,” he stated.

Hojat-ol-Islam Abbas Eskandari, the director general of the Awqaf Department in Qom Province, was also present at the meeting.

He noted that the holy city of Qom will host the Islamic teachings section of the competition this year.

He added that with the competitions in this section planned to be held internationally, Muslims from other countries can also take part in the Quranic event.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.

Registration for the preliminary round of this year’s competition, which is its 47th edition, has started and will run until June 8.
