The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 21, at approximately 8:42 p.m.
An unidentified man approached the woman and punched her multiple times while making anti-Muslim comments. The suspect then fled westbound on Atlantic Avenue.
The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The suspect is described as a male, aged 16-20, with a heavy build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.

In another incident, a woman has been charged with a hate crime after reportedly pepper-spraying her Muslim Uber driver. The woman reportedly sprayed the driver after he began praying in Arabic at an intersection. When the woman’s friend asked why she attacked the driver, she allegedly responded, “he’s brown.”
“These disturbing crimes demonstrate the real danger that anti-Muslim bigotry poses to members of our community,” said CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher.
