IQNA – Iraq’s prime minister condemned the Israeli regime’s media’s offensive move against the Arab country’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

“The Zionist media has attacked the revered Ayatollah Al-Sistani,” Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani said on Thursday, adding that this represents “an offense to the feelings of Muslims worldwide.”

He made the remark in a meeting with the US Ambassador to Iraq Alina Romanowski and US Congressman Seth Moulton.

Al-Sudani said that the Zionist regime that has attacked civilians and destroyed infrastructures in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, has now overstepping boundaries by insulting the revered Shia source of emulation.

He said major world countries an international organizations must take action to stop the Israeli regime’s continued aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.

He added that the Israeli wars are threatening stability and security in the region and world.

The Iraqi prime minister’s remarks came after the Israeli right-wing Channel 14 published a photo of Ayatollah Sistani as part of a list of potential assassination targets.
