Some 70 religious figures and scholars from 22 countries took part in the international event, according to the website of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS).
They discussed ways for reaching fair and sustainable peace based on Islamic principles and finding solutions for the present-day challenges facing the Muslim world.
The participating countries included Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, the US, France, Russia, Egypt and Oman.
In an address to the conference, IUMS chief Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi condemned the Zionist regime’s atrocities and said it has crossed all human, moral and legal red lines.

He slammed the support from Western countries, especially the US, for the Israeli regime and said the world lacks an effective system that can defend the oppressed and maintain peace.
He suggested that Muslim, African and Latin American countries as well as Russia and China should strive for creation of an international organization that can replace the United Nations.
