Speaking at a public lecture at Egypt’s Al-Azhar University on Sunday, Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the need for religious knowledge, alongside technology training, to guide students in developing ethical AI solutions, Bernama reported.
"We will start by completing the translation of the books," Anwar explained, adding that support for religious education would be restored.
"We will also reinstate any measures that were canceled, such as the aid to religious schools. Assistance to religious schools was abolished in 2003, but the MADANI government has reintroduced this aid nationwide," he said.
The prime minister also announced increased financial aid and scholarships for Malaysians pursuing Islamic Studies, Medicine, and Engineering, with a focus on encouraging the advancement of students in these fields.

Furthermore, students from Maahad Tahfiz, institutions that traditionally focus on Quranic studies, are now being encouraged to explore Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
Anwar noted that this allows them to learn engineering, AI, and other skills while maintaining their Quranic and Arabic proficiency. Some have even succeeded in becoming pilots" he added, underscoring the potential breadth of career opportunities for these students.
This is part of the programs we are implementing in Malaysia, Anwar said. "The fields I mentioned are vast and expansive."
