Iraqi University to Hold Quran Handwriting Workshops

IQNA – The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa in Iraq’s holy city of Karbala plans to organize workshops on handwriting the Quran.

According to the website of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, they are organized as part of a project named “Words of Light”.

It is aimed at reviving and documenting the tradition of Quran handwriting as a religious and cultural heritage.

The university, which is affiliated to the Astan, has invited students, scholars and managers to take part in the workshops, which will kick off later this month.

Talal al-Kamali, the president of the university, said the workshops will teach, among other things, the rules and regulations of Quran handwriting.

He added that a handwritten copy of the Quran will be produced by the participants and will be unveiled on the Eid of Mab’ath in late January 2025.

He called on students and academicians to sign up for the workshops and contribute to the project, which is unique in the history of the university.
