Kuwait Int’l Quran Competition: Iranian Memorizer’s Performance Scheduled for Today

IQNA – While two of Iran’s representatives in Kuwait’s 13th international Quran competition have already performed their recitation, it is the turn of the country’s other representative today.

Memorizer Mohammad Reza Zahedi will take to the stage on Tuesday to answer the question of the panel of judges and demonstrate his Quranic talents. 

Mohammad Hossein Maleki in the category of Quran memorization for children, and Habid Sedaqat in recitation had performed on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

All of the contenders will have performed by the end of today’s afternoon session with the closing ceremony slated for Wednesday.

The competition got underway in a ceremony on November 13.

A total of 127 Quran reciters and memorizers from 75 countries are competing in different categories of the Quranic award.

The panel of judges consists of six Quran experts, namely Faras Qaim al-Matar from the host country, Kamil bin Saud al-Unzi from Saudi Arabia, Maqri Musa Nur Bilal from India, Abdul Bari Abdul Rahman al-Ilmi from Somalia, Kamal Qaddah from Ageria and Buhlul Shuaid Abu Arqub from Libya.

Since its establishment in 2010, the Kuwait international Quran contest, organized by Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, has encouraged young people worldwide to engage with the Quran through memorization, recitation, and Tajweed.

In the previous 12 editions of the competition, Iran’s best result came in 2018 when Mehdi Gholamnejad finished runner-up in Quran recitation.
