A contender in Iran's International Holy Quran Competition

Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center Hamid Majidimehr made the remark in a meeting with Ayatollah Ali Reza A’rafi, the director of Iran’s Islamic Seminaries.

He noted that Quran reciters and memorizers from 110 countries took part in the 40th edition of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition, held in Tehran on February 15-19, 2024.

Majidimehr added that there are no more than 70 countries partaking in other international Quran competitions.

This is an indication that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s discourse has become a dominant one in the world, he stated.

The official also noted that during the coronavirus pandemic, 27 Muslim countries cancelled their international Quran contests but Iran held its competitions, both at the national and international levels, virtually, which became a model for other countries to follow.
