“We announce unequivocally that we will continue with more determination to support resistance as the main and most pivotal strategy to ensure the country’s security … and as a national and religious duty,” he said at an opening session of the parliament on Thursday.
He expressed confidence that the growing trend of belief in regional resistance will continue to develop to the whole region.
Ghalibaf referred to the fall of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s government and said while it could cause some disruptions, the resistance movements, especially Hezbollah, have proven that they will adapt to the new conditions very soon and act more strongly than before.
He noted that despite the martyrdom of Hezbollah’s senior commanders, the resistance group managed to defeat the Israeli regime and force it to accept the ceasefire.
The Iranian parliament speaker also said that the government of Syria had been warned about the plots being hatched against it but failed to act upon the warnings and, neglecting the threat of the enemy, refused to take the path of national dialogue.
Ghalibaf also hailed the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s remarks on Wednesday about the developments in Syria.

Noting that what is happening in Syria is the result of a plot devised by the United States and the Israeli regime, the Leader stressed that the resistance front has not been weakened and will never be.
“This is what resistance is; this is what the resistance front is: the more pressure you apply, the stronger it becomes; the more crimes you commit, the more motivated it becomes. The more you fight them, the more widespread it becomes. And I tell you, by the grace of God, the scope of the resistance will, more than ever, cover the entire region,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
