IQNA – More interactive screens and robots are planned to be introduced in the Grand Mosque, Islam's holiest in Mecca, in the last 10 days of Ramadan.

Pilgrims access digital screens and an AI-powered robot in the Grand Mosque in Ramadan.

The last ten days of the Islamic holy month are a time when the numbers of worshippers surge.

Chief of the Presidency for Religious Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Abdulrahman Al Sudais said the agency is going ahead with digitalizing and automating services in the Grand Mosque through smart apps and distributing artificial intelligence robots to answer religious questions in several languages received from worshippers and cope with their large numbers.

"The presidency has recently launched the Manara Robot as part of keeping abreast of smart digital transformations, utilizing artificial intelligence to deliver the moderate message of the Two Holy Mosques to the world in several languages, and serve millions of pilgrims and visitors," he added.

"The Manara Robot is an icon of artificial intelligence as it helps to answer the inquiries of visitors to the Grand Mosque.

It serves as a beacon of creative knowledge and an advanced and sophisticated model for employing artificial intelligence to provide religious and guidance information in modern and effective ways," Al Sudais said.

To enrich pilgrims' experience and streamline services in the Grand Mosque, Saudi authorities have sought to utilize cutting-edge technology by introducing interactive screens, AI-powered machines, and simultaneous translation devices that feature a religious content in several languages.
